Decoupaging Ms.
A lifelong, voracious consumer of so-called "women's magazines" (and men's magazines, to be honest), I find myself desperately disappointed to be living in the new millennium. New glossies are scarce, old ones are history. After trying and failing to research Ms. magazine as an undergrad, I used my aptitude for vintage sourcing to build a full archive of all issues of Ms. from 1972 to the early aughts. While collecting, I was blessed with several duplicates, which I used to decoupage storage boxes for my collection. Each image below is a photograph of the top of a paperboard box that holds a years' worth of issues, decorated with images from duplicates of the same issues that reside in each box. My goal was to create a visual representation of the contents of each year that also functions as storage for pristine issues. As such, the boxes and their contents are meant to be seen and used, but I think the below reproductions offer a sense of the scope of the project and the contents of each year.
